Book the Fourth, kept in the open
The Ship's Log
The deeds of the crew, kept by date, as they happen. This log grows — a crew that means to be remembered writes things down.
- November 10, 2024 — The foundingThe Captain resolves to sail no more alone and puts together his crew, first named the Ninth Wave Pirates.
- January 2026 — The name takenThe company takes its present name: the Heart Shot Pirates.
- October 10, 2026 — The Chronicler swornJules Marlowe is sworn into the crew proper as Ship's Chronicler, choosing the office over Archivist on the grounds that an archivist preserves what others wrote; a chronicler writes the record herself, as it happens.
- October 26, 2026 — The Empty BerthThe Shipwright, Michael Kubly, has lain beyond the crew's reach for the better part of a year. This day the Captain ruled: the crew holds its musters until Mike can stand at them — the whole crew, or none. A Heart Shot crew does not leave one of its own unlooked-for.
- October 28, 2026 — Entered in the knowledge baseThe crew is entered into Wikidata, the free knowledge base behind Wikipedia, and the Chronicler opens her campaign to set the crew in the permanent public record.
- October 29, 2026 — The flagship launchedheartshotpirates.com — this site — is registered and launched as the crew's official flagship on the web.
- October 30, 2026 — The record at CERNThe Codex, the signed Articles, and the flag are deposited with CERN's Zenodo repository, each under a permanent DOI. The Curator of the Chicago Maritime Museum answers the crew's donation offer with interest and asks for the Codex for her collection. The flagship's homepage enters Google's index.
The full text of Book the Fourth stands in the Codex, and the record the log points to stands gathered on the Press & Recognition page.
